Author kit & checklist
In order to complete the submission process, you will need to go through the following steps:
- Revise your paper based on reviewers' comments.
- Prepare a camera-ready paper according to layout guidelines below. Make sure that your final PDF file passes the PDFexpress conformance test (the best way is to use its free PDF conversion service). Please follow the instructions below.
- Prepare a one-page summary for the Conference Digest according to the format below.
- Submit BOTH your camera-ready paper and the one-page summary through the on-line upload system by final paper submission deadline. Please update the paper information if necessary. Accepted papers in final form must be received no later than April 20, 2007. This is a hard deadline, due to the time needed to complete the printing and publishing procedures.
- Fax your IEEE copyright transfer agreement (form) to the Program Chair at fax number +385 1 6129-785 or +385 1 6129-809.
Signed copyright form must be received no later than April 20, 2007. Otherwise, the paper will not be included in the conference proceedings.
- Register for the conference no later than April 20, 2007 (early registration deadline). Please note that to complete the registration we must receive your payment by that date as well. Otherwise, the paper will not be included in conference proceedings.
- Make travel and hotel arrangements. If you need a visa, please apply for it well in advance. If you need an invitation letter, please see instructions.
- If you plan to stay at the conference hotel, Divani Caravel, remember that the deadline for booking at the conference rate is April 20, 2007.
- Keep an eye on preliminary program as you prepare your presentation.
- See you in Athens! :-)
Note:
Please make all the required corrections before submitting the final version. The final version will be reviewed by one person in order to assure that the required changes have indeed been included and that the paper conforms to the final submission guidelines.

1. The final paper must be submitted in Portable Document Format (PDF), via Web upload. The document must not be encrypted, locked, or otherwise write-protected. Please make sure that the final PDF passes the PDF eXpress check.
2. A one-page summary for the Conference Digest must be submitted in MS Powepoint format, according to the format below.
Paper format
Use standard IEEE double-column format for conferences. The first page of the paper, centered on the top below the top margin, should include the paper title, the authors' names and their affiliations, an abstract, and keywords. Six pages are allowed for each paper. Up to two additional pages (total of eighht) will be permitted for a total charge of 100 EUR. Papers longer than 8 pages are NOT acceptable. Illustrations and references are included in the page count. Papers should adhere to the standard IEEE double-column format for conferences. The following style files and templates are available for preparing the paper.

WE STRONGLY SUGGEST USING THE IEEE PDF eXpress SERVICE (free for MED'07 authors) FOR CONVERTING SOURCE FILES INTO PDF.
Other options include
using Acrobat Distiller or Ghostview/Ghostcript.
MS Word users can convert their papers to PDF by using http://createpdf.adobe.com. This is a free service that can convert MS Word to PDF.
If you use Acrobat Distiller please note :
The most common error found in files that fail to meet IEEE Xplore® compliance requirements is the failure to embed all fonts. The PDF requirement specifies in Section 7.2 that the following items are to be selected (i.e., checked) in the Adobe Acrobat Distiller "Fonts" tab:
- Embed All Fonts
- Subset All Embedded Fonts Below 100%
IEEE is very strict about the requirements for converting application files or PostScript files to full text PDF for inclusion in IEEE Xplore®. Detailed instructions may be found at the IEEE publications Web site. We recommend the use of PDF eXpress service, which is available to authors to test the compatibility of their papers. Papers that do not print correctly cannot be published. For best results, authors should avoid the use of custom half tones, bitmap pattern fills, and bitmap fonts. Use standard half tones and solid color or grey fills instead.
IEEE PDF eXpress is a free service to IEEE conferences, allowing their authors:
1.
to make IEEE Xplore-compatible PDFs (Conversion function),
or,
2.
to check PDFs that authors have made themselves for IEEE Xplore compatibility (PDF Check function).
Steps for checking PDF conformance
1) Create your manuscript(s).
2) Proofread and check layout of manuscript (it is highly recommended
that you do this BEFORE going to IEEE PDF eXpress.)
3) Create IEEE PDF eXpress account (see "How to create IEEE PDF eXpress account below").
4) Upload source file(s) for Conversion; and/or PDF(s) for Checking.
5) Use IEEE PDF eXpress to attain IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF(s). The
site contains extensive instructions, resources, helpful hints, and
access to technical support.
6) Submit final, IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF(s) to the on-line paper submission
system. (Please note that PDF eXpress is NOT paper submission system, just a utility to check PDF conformance!!)

4. WEB UPLOAD
Submit your IEEE Xplore compatible PDF file to the MED' 2007 paper submission system. |
Before uploading your paper, please adhere to the following requirements:
- Please verify that the final version of your PDF file adheres to conformance requirements.
- The maximum document file size is 2MB (megabyte). To request an exception, contact the secretariat. Do NOT send files to this address; any such e-mails will be automatically rejected.
- Once you have your document file ready, have the following information handy before starting the submission process:
- The PDF file containing your submission
- Authors' names and e-mail address of the author who will serve as the main contact
- Paper title
- Text file containing the paper abstract, in plain ASCII text format (for copying and pasting into the Web form). The abstract length is limited to 500 characters. Please note that the abstract must not contain any special characters. Also, do not start the text with the word 'Abstract'.
Your paper will be visually inspected upon submission. If there is a problem with your submission, we will contact you to resolve the issue.
Once it is accepted for publication in Conference Proceedings, a paper cannot be published without a signed IEEE Copyright Form. This form will be required when submitting a final camera-ready paper (not for submitting the paper for review).
You can download the copyright form either here as [PDF] or [MS Word], or directly from IEEE Web site.
Fax the signed form to the Program Chair, Dr. Zdenko Kovacic, at fax number +385 1 6129-785 or +385 1 6129-809.
Signed copyright form must be received no later than April 20, 2007. Otherwise, the paper will not be included in the conference proceedings.
